It’s always a bit nerve-wracking to put your work out to the world! Some will love it, some will hate it. Everyone will have an opinion. Over the past months, we’ve received valuable feedback from the community about it and we love where it’s landed.
The timing couldn't be more perfect. Last week, rumors began swirling about potential JPEG XL output directly from the upcoming iPhone 16 cameras. The iPhone 16 Pro Max's main camera sensor is rumored to be a Sony IMX-903 with an updated stacked design (allowing more light in), a 14-bit analog-to-digital converter (which is where things get exciting for JPEG XL), and digital gain control for better dynamic range and noise control.
While the accuracy of these rumors is anyone's guess, the buzz they've created in the tech community is palpable. The potential iPhone support, combined with Adobe's inclusion of JXL in their Digital Negative (DNG) format, signals growing momentum for JPEG XL in the creative workflow – which naturally extends it into other areas.
